New York Musical Theater Festival

Monday kicked off the New York Musical Theater Festival, and so far I am loving it. The festival is from July 9-29, and it's 21 days of musical theater bliss! Since my husband and I are members, we'll be seeing six musicals and at least four readings. We chose shows that we thought we'd enjoy the most, meaning they had humor and/or other interesting subject matter. We also tried to choose shows that closely resembled Milk Carton Molly [working title], though that part was difficult. Not to toot my own horn, but I've searched high and low (On, Off and Off-Off-Broadway) and I haven't found anything like Milk Carton Molly, yet!

Also, I love seeing musicals in their developmental stage, as it gives me a good visual of where Milk Carton Molly should be at this point in it's journey to Broadway. The musicals in the festival are only a little further than where mine is, so it's a great way for me to get ideas of how to take my musical to the next level.

In addition to the shows, there are also plenty of other events like seminars and networking at the NYMF Hub, that I have and will be taking advantage of. This is only day 3, and I've already seen two shows and plan on attending a seminar tonight. Again, I can't stress it enough, I'm loving this. This is the first time I've gone to a festival, and it definitely wont be the last. If you're in the NYC area, and you like to see shows in their developmental stage, all of the shows are only $25. And you can find out more about the shows at www.nymf.org.

Man...you're covering all the bases! You're getting so much insight on all angles that you are bound to succeed! I'm definitely gonna try and take advantage of a show or two towards the end of the month. Thanks for the info, and ENJOY!

I'll let you know what my favorites are after I've seen a few more. And I just wrote a post about Plays In The Park, I think you and the wifey might like that!
